Arrive in the historic city of Cusco, the heart of the Inca Empire, where your adventure begins. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and take some time to rest and acclimatize to the high altitude. Spend the day exploring the charming streets of Cusco at your own pace, discovering the blend of ancient Inca and colonial Spanish architecture. Visit local markets, savor traditional cuisine, or simply relax in a café overlooking the Plaza de Armas. After an early morning pickup from your hotel, travel to the starting point of the Inca Trail at Km 82. Begin your trek with a gentle ascent, crossing the Urubamba River and passing through stunning scenery of rolling hills and ancient terraces. Along the way, visit the archaeological site of Llactapata. The first day is a relatively easy hike to help you ease into the journey, ending at the campsite in Wayllabamba where you’ll enjoy dinner under the stars and rest for the night.

Today is the most challenging day of the trek, as you ascend steeply to reach the highest point of the trail at Dead Woman’s Pass (4,215 meters/13,828 feet). Take in the breathtaking views before descending into the Pacaymayo Valley. The day’s hike is strenuous but rewarding, with incredible mountain landscapes and glimpses of snow-capped peaks. Settle in at the campsite in Pacaymayo for a well-deserved rest.

This day is packed with archaeological wonders and varied landscapes. Start with a climb to the ruins of Runkurakay, followed by a visit to the impressive Sayacmarca site.
